thewaterways.co.uk is a website run by residents of the Waterways for residents of the Waterways. This site aims to provide local up-to-date information relevant to the Waterways. If you are interested in attending any of our WRA meetings or have any questions about these please contact WRAChair@thewaterways.co.uk for details of our next meeting and planned events for 2026.

The maintenance and running of the private sections of the estate and public amenity space is the responsibility of the committees of the Waterways Management Company (WMC) which delegates day-to-day work to its managing agents, currently FirstPort Property Services.

About the Waterways

The Waterways housing development was built between 2000 and 2006 by Berkeley Homes. It includes over 500 households in a variety of owner-occupied, privately rented and social, affordable housing.

Residents’ interests, and the buildings and public areas, are protected and maintained by local organisations.

Waterways Residents Association (WRA)

Open to all residents in the development. Our aim is to encourage a sense of community through organising events and representing your views and concerns to the council and other bodies where it is important for your views to be heard. The WRA is a body recognised by the WMC and GreensquareAccord and the is run by a team of volunteer residents.

Waterways Management Company (WMC)

The Management Company represents the interests of the owners of private property who are shareholders in the Waterways Management Company. The company directors, who are volunteer residents, liaise with contractors responsible for the maintenance of the area.

Most of the time the estate will be managed to your satisfaction but sometimes you may feel the managing agents are not being as helpful as they could. In this instance please follow the complaints procedure.

GreenSquareAccord

(formerly OCHA) Represents the interests of those living in social, affordable and over 50s housing on the development and arranges for the upkeep of these areas.

Whether you want to pass on a compliment or make a complaint, GreensquareAccord has its own procedures for residents to follow.

FirstPort

The Waterways Management Company (WMC) has appointed FirstPort Resident Property Services as their agents to manage the day-to-day running of the estate. FirstPort manage service charges paid by private property owners, and sub-contract the tradespeople who maintain the buildings and public amenities.

Waterways World Newsletters

The WRA publishes a hard copy newsletter called Waterways World which can be sponsored by local businesses. You can read our latest newsletter and see all the previous editions.

We have a Facebook page.  ‘Like’ the page to see, very occasional, updates from us on your own Facebook home page.

There is also a private Facebook Group for residents.  When you apply to join the group please be prepared to answer the questions.
